Tom was my godfather - affectionately known as GFT (godfather tom) instead of BFG. I was probably only 5 when I last saw him up in Scotland at a place called Story Book Glen, but he wrote a Christmas letter to my parents every year telling us about what he'd been up to that year. My dad went to school with him which I presume is how he came to be one of my godparents. I was sad to hear of his passing and will miss his Christmas updates.
